Fourth of July 2007 We had spent the night out on the water to get an early start with the daylight. At about 7:30 AM we hooked this Marlin on the way out to the shelf. It was my turn in the chair so I hopped in not knowing what we had hooked. This was my first Marlin and I really did not know what I was in for. It turned out to be the most physically intensive thing I have ever done in my life. It took me about 50 minutes to land this Marlin. All the while I was receiving words of encouragement from my brother and the rest of the crew like: "Don't give up you F&*%ing Pussy!" and "Reel Reel Reel you big whimp!" and "If you give up we'll kill you in your sleep!" But they did pour beer all over my face and actually got some in my mouth to drink. That along with putting towels dipped in ice water on my back and head kept me going. This 98 inch monster we estimated at just over 200 pounds. It had been hooked partially in the eye and on the side of its face and had lost a lot of blood. Juan our captain said it would not make it back in the water. It saddened us all to have to kill this magnificent creature. These fish are truly some of gods' masterpieces. Tucson BobA
